Story Time

During the pandemic, many ʻohana are searching for additional resources to keep their keiki entertained and engaged. To provide parents and caregivers a few minutes of precious relief, Kona Historical Society launched a virtual story time on our webiste and Facebook page. The featured stories are between 5 and 20 minutes long.

Mondays with Maile

For years, Maile Melrose has contributed her memories and stories of Kona with the Kona Historical Society community through a variety of programs, lectures and experiences. She is one of Kona’s most dedicated advocates as an author, historian, and president of the Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden.

Mondays with Maile is a virtual talk story program that started in April 2020. It is live streamed on the Society's Facebook page, where Melrose shares Kona history, answers viewers’ questions and often highlights resources found in the Society’s collections.

Kona Historical Society hosts the Hanohano `O Kona Lecture Series almost every month featuring distinguished local and state speakers, performers and experts sharing knowledge on a wide variety of cultural and historical topics.
